K-9 SARK Training Exercise Crisis City

K9SARK was able to train this fall at Crisis City. This training facility was developed in April 2007 to enhance the State's ability to respond to terrorism, disasters and emergencies. The mission of Crisis City has been expanded to: 'Provide Kansas first responders and those who do the dirty work, including the Kansas National Guard and our public and private partners, with a world class, multi-discipline, multi-agency training environment that has no rival'.

Crisis City has training venues for many types of disasters and emergencies. Some of the training areas consist of collapsed structures. Here the dogs are searching for simulated buried victims on one of the two rubble piles. Other venues include an Urban Village, a Technical Rescue Tower, Rail emergencies with a full size diesel engine and several different kinds of rail cars. Future venues will include a K-9 agility & directional course.
